A Night of Brilliance, Emotion, and Creativity at the Finale of the 14th Athens International Digital Film Festival

last photo 2With great joy and deep emotion, the curtain fell on the 14th Athens International Digital Film Festival (AIDFF), a cultural institution that for 14 years has celebrated cinematic art, creativity, and innovation. From December 4 to 10, Athens was filled with images, stories, and unforgettable experiences. The festival was hosted at the historic Studio New Star Art Cinema in Amerikis Square and at the Blackbox Theater Cinema in Pedion tou Areos, while parallel screenings took place at Ekpaideftiki Enosi in Syntagma, Studio Theatre in Kypseli, the AXON organization on Patision Street, and Geoterra in Chalandri.

This year’s edition presented 120 short and feature films from 30 countries, including 60 premieres, covering the full spectrum of cinematic χ. Special emphasis was placed on Greek cinema, with works by emerging filmmakers as well as established directors whose artistic vision and aesthetic strength stood out.

The 12th International Panorama of Ecological and Scientific Films reminded us that cinema is not only a form of entertainment, but also a medium for expression, reflection, and awareness.

This year’s program was further enriched by three exceptional masterclasses:
• Dimitris Athanitis introduced us to the magic of directing and the process through which a vision transforms into cinematic reality.
• The artistic duo OXYMORON – Konstantinos Tiligadis and Dimitris Agathopoulos – presented the fascinating world of VR and Artificial Intelligence as a new field of artistic exploration and audiovisual storytelling.
• Socratis Alafouzos, through the masterclass “The Director Meets the Actor,” offered a unique insight into the creative journey from script to screen, highlighting the vibrancy of rehearsals and the essential collaboration between director and actor.

At the same time, the 3rd International Film Script Festival, held alongside AIDFF, showcased the power of written storytelling — the very heart of cinema — giving a platform to both emerging and established screenwriters from around the world.

This year’s AIDFF transcended the boundaries of a traditional festival, becoming a valuable platform for artistic exploration. The films we experienced were not merely works of art, but living narratives of the human condition — filled with emotion, depth, and honesty — moving and inspiring us in countless ways.

Through its steady and creative presence, AIDFF fosters a new generation of filmmakers every year—open-minded, independent, and bold in their artistic perspective. And while our digital reality continues to evolve, art remains the language that unites, awakens, and inspires.

We warmly thank you for participating, for sharing this magical week with us, and for continuing to support cinema, creativity, and the arts.
